TOP AND BEST HIGH SCHOOLS IN KODAGU

1 . Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is affiliated from Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). CBSE is most widely accepted education board for public and private schools, under the Government of India. CBSE board affiliation code for this school is 840007.Though this school is affiliated with CBSE but one must note that affiliation is not permanent, their current affiliation status is provisional. Usually CBSE grants three years of provisional affiliation to schools and after completion of affiliation period, affiliation can either be extended for next three-five year or it can be revoked based on fulfillment of the essential conditions of the Affiliation Bye-Laws.  Performance wise this school is legendry and there are very few schools in India like this school. Students getting education from this school will increase the probability of success in there academic and professional career. If a chance is availed to get admitted in this school then one shall not think twice, infrastructure wise there may be better schools but in the end only mark sheet stays in hand. This school is a gem amongst schools. If we have to rank this school we will say its eleven out of ten or at least its ten out of ten. If one is already admitted in this school he should consider himself lucky.

2 . St. Anne’s English Medium School

St. Anne’s English Medium School has been affiliated by Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations also known as CISCE. CISCE is globally accepted private board of school education which is popular for its balanced syllabus and its recognition by various foreign education systems in compare to any other board in India. CISCE board affilitaion code for St. Anne’s English Medium School is KE128. English is endorsed language of communication in classrooms and St. Anne’s English Medium School has authorized english as medium of instruction and preferred textbook language as well. Progressive management members are keen to provide competitive, practical and diverse environment to their students and hence they have opted to educate girls and boys in same classrooms. Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations has only provided an approval for Indian Certificate of Secondary Education examination, that being said this school is only affiliated till 10th class by CISCE and for ISC(Or 12th) examination student will need to move to other school. St. Anne’s English Medium School does not provide boarding facility to there students. St. Anne’s English Medium School is 662nd best school of India and its 60th best school out of 133 CISCE Schools in Kerala. Building and infrastructure are one thing and performance is another and when we talk about performance of this school we would say that its not the worst school however its not the best school as well. This school is significantly above the average but its not in the list of best schools, Numerically speaking this school is seven out of ten. One must understand that little self study and other additional help will be required to get good marks in this school.

3 . Nalanda Gurukula International public School

Nalanda Gurukula International Public School (NGIPS) is an ICSE school with permanent affiliation providing education to students from diverse communities since 2009. NGIPS has a lush green campus spread over an area of 50 acres, located at Mysore-Coorg border in Guddenahalli, near Golden Temple, Kushalnagar which is about 80 km from Mysuru and 230 km from Bengaluru. Coorg Public School has a vibrant and dynamic history. It has evolved from a Primary school to become the most culturally diverse, co-ed, process and technology-oriented, globally conscious school in India. Its history has been a truly unique mixture of dramatic innovation and strong tradition. The idea of starting Coorg Public School was conceived by four entrepreneurs of rural background. Their own experience of being schooled in rural vernacular institutions with poor facilities triggered in them a noble thought of providing the local students the best facilities and opportunity to study in English medium school and be on par with their urban counterparts. The pioneering effort of these five visionaries resulted in setting up the first ICSE school of the highest standard in 1996 in the picturesque hilly district of Kodagu. 5 . General Thimayya Public School

The school started in the year 1998 in a very humble way with lower classes LKG, UKG and 1 std and with 3 teachers. Encouragement was received from all possible sides. Like minded people, well wishers and philanthropists, contributed for the growth of General Thimayya Public School. The increase in students strength, necessitated the set-up of buildings and infrastructure. The gradual progress began to happen. The academic year 2002-03 saw its High school section with the commencement of class VIII and its 10 students. The first batch of students of S.S.L.C passed out in the year 2004-05 with 100% pass out result. It is rightly said, “well begun is half done”. So also with our school, because there is no looking back in the matter of results. The quality in results is being maintained . With a thought for centralized syllabus, the school switched on to the ICSE pattern of education in the year 2007-08, nine batches of ICSE have passed out with 100% results and brilliant individual performances. The school has incorporated the modern technique in imparting quality teaching. Also steps for a holistic development of personality are inherent in our value based education.

6 . Sainika School Kodagu

Sainik School Kodagu is located at Kudige village approximately 6 Kms from Kushalnagar in Kodagu district. The Kodagu district is popularly known as the Scotland of India because of its evergreen rain forest, hill stations which produce coffee, cardamom, pepper, oranges etc. It is also the birth place of the river Cauvery. The people of Kodagu are special in many ways and have stood apart in their beauty, bravery and hospitality. Apart from tourism and commercial crop plantations in a significant and proud contribution in its distinguished martial tradition, it has given the highest numbers of warriors, including several Generals, Brigadiers to the Indian Army. Field Marshal KM Cariappa and Gen KS Thimmaiah, DSO are legendary sons who hail from this district.

7 . Sera Je Secondary School

were appointed teachers for handwriting and prayer memorization. As there was no school building all the classes were held in open ground exposed to heat, rain and wind, making teaching work very difficult. I discussed this problem with Geshe Tashi Bum and we were able to find some fund necessary for School building and finally able to build four classrooms, toilet, and bathroom. (These Rooms were later on used for printing press). We organized a brief inauguration ceremony for the new school building. We invited Ex-Abbot Vajradhara Jetsun Lobsang Wangchuk, Kyabje Khen Rinpoche Jetsun Dhondup Topgyal, Most Venerable Geshe Ngawang Lekden, Eminent scholar Te Geshe Tamding Rabten, and inaugurated the new school building followed by a simple tea party to the guests. The non-availability of English teacher for the student was a big problem. Our own philosophy student Venerable Jampel Sangey volunteered to teach the novices English for several years without receiving any pay. He deserved our heartfelt thanks. I requested Geshe Tamding Rabten to find a sponsor for paying an English teachers’ salary. He was so kind to have been able to find a foreign sponsor who sent rupees 150 (one hundred fifty) as monthly salary for our English teacher. I thanked both the sponsors and Geshela for their help. This teacher salary sponsorship continued uninterrupted even when the school was reorganized in the later years. Then as per previous year’s plan there was a need for a by-law for reorganization of Sera Je School. I requested three foreigners to help me prepare this by-law. Tenzing Choglang (Luca Corona) of Italy, Sangay Samdup and an American monk together they prepared the by-law which finalized after making necessary changes we. I submitted this by-law to His Holiness the Dalai Lama for His kind approval. His Holiness so kindly gave us His approval and we reorganized and re-established Sera Je School in 1984. The school is still there. However, our efforts met with various kinds of strong opposition and resistance. Many expressed doubt about its success and some expressed their opposition to re-establishment of the school as a distinct institution.

8 . MURNAD HIGH SCHOOL

MURNAD HIGH SCHOOL(AIDED) was established in 1958 and it is managed by the Pvt. Aided. It is located in Rural area. It is located in MADIKERI block of KODAGU district of Karnataka. The school consists of Grades from 8 to 12. The school is Co-educational and it doesn’t have an attached pre-primary section. The school is N/A in nature and is not using school building as a shift-school. Kannada is the medium of instructions in this school. This school is approachable by all weather road. In this school academic session starts in April. The school has Private building. It has got 2 classrooms for instructional purposes. All the classrooms are in good condition. It has 2 other rooms for non-teaching activities. The school has a separate room for Head master/Teacher. The school has Partial boundary wall. The school has have electric connection. The source of Drinking Water in the school is Well and it is functional. The school has 14 boys toilet and it is functional. and 13 girls toilet and it is functional. The school has a playground. The school has a library and has 2838 books in its library. The school does not need ramp for disabled children to access classrooms. The school has 5 computers for teaching and learning purposes and all are functional. The school is not having a computer aided learning lab. The school is Provided and Prepared in School Premises providing mid-day meal.
